Condolences

Condolence From: Prof. Mary R. Brown
Condolence: I had to do the final grades for my Intro to Finance class yesterday and it was with heavy heart, I filled in a well deserved "A" for Elliot. He became quite special to me and not because of his illness. The very first day of class he came to me afterward to let me know of his condition in such a matter of fact way, he might have been talking about a sports injury. He did not miss a class during the hideous winter we had and I often told him, stay home if the weather is a problem. He did not want to miss a class.

He helped me keep things in perspective: I've got arthritis, a knee replacement that was not quite successful, severe scoliosis and I'm almost completely deaf without my aids....wah, wah, wah! Elliot reminded me that my "conditions" do not define me. If there is room to say one more thing: a salute to his family and caretakers. He was able to cope so well because I think he had a wonderful support team in place. If any of you are old enough to remember JFK's Pulitzer price winning book, Profiles in Courage, I think we could add Elliot as a chapter in that book.

Fly free, Elliot and your classmates have been contacting me to wish you the same.
