Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Nicholas William Betzold (Sr.) born in Brainerd, Minnesota on June 28th, 1929, passed away Thursday, August 4th ,2022. He died in his sleep peacefully. He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Betzold, his two sons, Nicholas (with his wife, Birgit) Betzold, and Harold (with his wife, Linda) Betzold. He is also survived by his two stepchildren Joshua (with his wife, Debbie) Trob, and April Minkus (with her partner, Lester Burgher), as well as his devoted daughter-in-law Cheryl Betzold. He is mourned by his 13 grandchildren including Nicholas III, Sarah, Carly (with husband Christopher Schmid), Paula, Charlie, Emma, Amber, and Beau Betzold. Nicholas was also blessed through his stepdaughter April, with grandchildren Rebecca and Jacob Minkus and through Joshua, grandchildren Caroline, Andrew, and Megan Trob. Through Carly and her husband Christopher, Nicholas was also blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Cody, and Caylee Schmid.

Born in Minnesota, Nick was a faithful provider and beloved family man known by his extensive family for his gentle and polite demeanor. He had a career as a Senior Executive Civil Engineer in both Florida and Illinois after his service in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long patriot.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers (T2T.org) a charity that provides homes for disabled veterans, first responders, and the families of those heroes who lost their lives in the service of our country.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 at Randhill Park Cemetery, 1700 W Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends who will not attend the services can view the services live Monday, August 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM CST or any time after at www.MitzvahFunerals.com.
