Obituary for Samuel N Warsawsky

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to an amazing man. He was a remarkable husband of almost 72 years to Corinne Warsawsky. Sam and “Corky” were not only best friends, but they set the bar on what a perfect marriage looks like. He was an extremely proud and loving father to Paula Louise Hootman, a terrific father-in-law and friend to Kayne Hootman, the greatest grandpa, advisor, and admirer to the grandchildren he adored - Melissa Corey Giamou, Jason Cooper Giamou, and Jason’s wife Nicole Giamou. Sam would light up and share plenty of laughs when his great-granddaughter Athena Corinne Giamou would visit. He loved it when Kanin Hootman called him great-grandfather but then switched to Zayde - thank you to Stephanie Hootman, my other granddaughter for making that happen.

He leaves behind a one-of-a-kind and truly special bond with his sister Anna Gottschalk. They both always looked forward to their visits and frequent phone calls. He will be missed by all of his family and friends including his sister-in-law Gail Cooper, and many nieces and nephews. Among those, Irv (nephew) and Reesa Gottschalk will miss their Uncle Sam as they spent a lot of time together. All of his relatives knew they could count on Sam for sharing his sense of humor, an engaging conversation, a good baseball story, in addition to being extremely supportive and caring. Sam was born a Cubs fan, and from 1927 on he always loved wearing his Cubs gear! As he often would joke (before 2016), “The Cubs have ruined my life, and now they’re ruining my grandchildren’s lives.” Graveside services Friday 10:30 AM at Westlawn Cemetery (Westlake Section), 7801 W Montrose Avenue, Norridge. Family and friends who will not attend the services can view the services live Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:30 AM CST or any time after at www.MitzvahFunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to your preferred charity would be appreciated. Arrangement by Mitzvah Memorial Funerals, 630-Mitzvah (630-648-9824).
