Obituary for Sherry Flangel (Pearlman)
Sherry Flangel
Sherry Flangel, 77, passed away on March 11th, 2022 after an inspirational battle with cancer. Her ability to find true joy in the company of her loving husband of 57 years Irwin, her children Bryan (Laura) and Melissa, her grandchildren Alison, Rachel and Luke even in the hardest of times or in stressful situations, is her greatest legacy. She was a loving daughter to the late Ruthye and Milton Pearlman and a loving cousin, sister-in-law, niece to those she cared about most deeply. She was strong and took life straight, enjoying it every step of the way. Sherry was the “source” who we turned to for all information on shopping, dining, or entertainment. She loved helping her customers look their best for many years as a star salesperson at Nordstrom. Sherry was an incredible communicator: GMS would text her grandchildren regularly, her phone rang off the hook each morning as her dozens of friends or cousins checked into their “beacon”, and spoke throughout the day, to her beloved Irwin and Melissa. Her voice was loud, her laugh contagious, and her spirit fierce as she fought hard until the very end of her battle with cancer. She was a wonderful friend as evidenced by the many who rallied by her bedside. She will be deeply missed but so remembered. Funeral service Wednesday, March 16th at 10 am at Temple Beth Israel, 3601 Dempster St., Skokie, followed by a private burial. Those who will not attend can view the service live on Sherry’s webpage beginning at 10AM CST Wednesday or any time after at www.MitzvahFunerals.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Kellogg Cancer Center or the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.
