Obituary for Stuart A. Minsky

Stuart Alan Minsky, age 61, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022, in Tampa, Florida. He was born November 26, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois to Doris (Goldman) Minsky and Joseph Minsky.

Stuart moved to Tampa, Florida in 1986 to operate a chain of currency exchanges, where he’d regale customers, neighbors, and everyone else he met with stories expressing his fondness for everything Chicago – from hot dogs, the concert venues, and forest preserves to the weather, the city lights, and culture. A songwriter, pianist, and co-founder of the band CluezFrock, Stuart was known for his love of music. He was also a craftsman of jewelry. And he loved observing nature, exploring his spirituality and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents and ex-wife Julie (Stevens) Minsky. He is survived by his ex-wife Carol Franklin; son, Jeremy Minsky; daughter, Sarah Minsky (Tracy Godwin); his stepchildren Jason Franklin and Alisha Franklin; his granddaughters, Olivia Minsky and Adalyn Godwin; his brother Laurence Minsky (Rhonda Present); and his niece, Jorie Minsky; as well as numerous extended family members.
