Obituary for Wyman Atkins
Wyman Atkins, age 71. Cherished husband of 53 years to Anne Atkins, nee Fitzgerald. Adored son to the late Eleanor Atkins, the late Wyman Atkins Sr. and step-son to Lily Atkins. Loving father to Cheri (Lloyd) Mandel. Proud grandfather to Rene Alton Mandel. Dear brother to Lynda (the late David) Bush, stepbrother to Wayne (Trulee) Atkins and Kristie Atkins. Beloved uncle to Lisa (Tom) Lopez, David (Kim) Bush and Steve Fitzgerald. Fond God-father to Rick Diego. Adored by all. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm EST, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 pm EST at Eden Funeral Services, 2450 W. Sample Road #2, Pompano Beach, FL. Wyman was a beautiful soul, who was married to Anne over 53 years. Little did Wyman know he would marry his high school sweetheart who was actually born in the same hospital in Danville, Virginia, but met in their senior year at Pompano Beach High School. He was a talented watercolor artist, piano player, harmonica player, golfer, fisherman, pilot, real estate broker, alligator assessor, a member of the Osprey Foundation, and most of all loved by his family. Wyman was a real estate broker in Miami and on Sanibel Island over 40 years. Wyman and Anne had a daughter named Cheri, who is a funeral director in Chicago. Wyman was instrumental in moving a 1920's home off the beach to Sanibel Gardens and totally remodeling the home by himself. Wyman was also instrumental in donating large parcels of land his father owned to the Sanibel Conservation Association. Above all, Wyman enjoyed most of all just visiting with his family and fishing with his grandson, Rene.
