In the wake of the tragic bridge collapse in Glenview on the 4th of July, we celebrate the life and legacy of Burt Lindner, 69, and Zorine Lindner, 70, lovingly married 47 years.
Practicing law for over 40 years representing the powerless underdogs, Burt was the founder and partner at Lindner & Lindner, with his son Robert. As any of his clients would say, Burt was defined more by his established relationships than any of his specific deeds. Family was paramount for Burt, and he was proud to encourage both of his sons Rob and Matt to pursue their entrepreneurship dreams.
Zorine dedicated her life to helping others both professionally and personally. As a Guidance Counselor at Holmes Junior High in Wheeling, IL, “Zo” worked for over 25 years to offer positive encouragement to Holmes students. After retirement, Zorine continued her legacy by founding ‘Holmes Helping Hands,’ a fund to aid Holmes families in crisis. Reaching beyond her own community, she and Burt traveled to New Orleans to assist in Katrina Relief Efforts, as well as contributed to innumerable other philanthropical endeavors.
Burt attempted semi-retirement the past few years, spending all of his free time with his family, wife, children, and grandchildren, donning his ‘Proud Papa’ shirt and living life to the fullest. By his side, Zorine proudly wore her ‘World’s Best Bubbe’ shirt, sharing her love and laughter, and continuing to put others before herself.
The Federal Railroad Administration Spokesman Mike England called the collapse of the railroad bridge "rare, very rare indeed." The same could be said of Burt and Zo. To have two people who have touched the lives of so many and left such a legacy is “rare, very rare indeed.”
