We never want to reach the point, of saying "goodbye", since it signifies the finality, of a loved one's life. However, I believe the prolonged helplessness and pain endured, by the family, especially Uncle Bill, actually makes Aunt Irma's passing merciful, for Irma herself and for all who loved her.
