RITA ZELENY passed away on August 20, 2010, in her adopted home of Sugar Land Texas. Born to Edward and Edythe Levitt in Detroit, MI on February 1, 1934, she spent much of her early life in and around New Orleans, LA. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Bob, daughters Diane Zeleny and Susan Olan, their husbands Reuel Gerecht and Ken Olan, grandchildren Rachael and Michael Olan, and Gabrielle and Max Gerecht, and her brother Albert and wife Edith. Rita and Bob spent most of their adult life in Chicago and Highland Park, IL.
She became active in Democratic politics, serving on the staff of the Democratic National Convention and as an alternate delegate. On moving to Boca Raton, FL in 1993, she became president of the Broken Sound Woman's Club. Rita was known for her charm, elegance, and warmth. Her daughters' favorite question: What would Mom think?" Services to be held at a later date in Houston.
