Metal Caskets

Metal caskets are made of steel, stainless steel, copper or bronze. Steel is a ferrous metal and is measured in gauge with the thinnest steel being 20 gauge (1/20th of an inch), followed by 18 gauge (1/18th of an inch). Stainless steel has properties that inhibits rust. Semi-precious metals such as copper and bronze do not rust.

Gasketed metal caskets have a rubber gasket that the lid is cranked down onto. all caskets other than the Geneva are gasketed.

Metal caskets are not traditional, but Reform Jewish families often buy these for various reasons including price and protective features. We offer a metal casket called the Zion (aka the Dominion) with Stars of David in the handles.
