In 1989, the storefront operation that Lloyd Mandel opened in Skokie (Lloyd Mandel Levayah Funerals) was unique to the funeral industry, but it made sense for families that were going to have funeral services at graveside, or from their Synagogue as it was much less expensive to maintain than a multi-million dollar funeral home.
On July 21st, 2010, Mitzvah Memorial Funerals, the day Lloyd Mandel's non-compete contract with SCI, the company he sold to 15 years prior, opened at a Regus office suite in Deerfield.
On December 1st, of 2019 we moved into a new facility in Northbrook. This facility gives us more office space, which is needed due to the volume of cases we are now doing. More importantly, we have a preparation room at this facility where the deceased will be held and cared for until the time of the funeral and disposition.
We have designed this facility to allow chevra kadishas the ability to perform taharas at a facility where no embalming takes place and for shomers to have their own dedicated room.
We can also make funeral arrangements at your home and also now do this very effectively over the phone and with the use of the internet to show caskets and to email contracts and authorizations.
